My Father:

     Mr. Gulamhusain Bookwala was one of the oldest booksellers in Mumbai.

My Grand Father:

My (NANA) Mr. Hasanali Topiwala of Poona settled in Bombay was a congress activist and awed by Mahatma Gandhi, since the independent movement. He was jailed with late Shri. S .K. Patil and was also in- charge for organizing the 1^st Parliament election till he quit social work in Immawada for Congress in Umarkhadi Taluka. He was also member of Khilafat Committee, I remember going with him to Byculla Khilafat House.

 

How I join Congress

Hasanali Topiwala My Ajji (Nana) convinced me to join congress and inducted me as member of congress in 1967. As a primary member of Indian National congress, the fee to become a member at that time was around 0.25 paisa. I remember that he said after paying money for my membership ‘that this is not for fun but for responsibility’.

Since then I was a primary and Active  member of Indian National Congress, till I joined NCP, my membership was renewed many times through various people like Mr. Kurbanallly Sariwala of Umarkhadi , then Mr. Akerberallly Alibhai Premji Tyerwala  Mr. Murli Deora MP South Mumbai  ,Lalitbhai Kapadia MLA and District President South Mumbai,  Masoom Husain Block President and  Ebrahim Gandhi.

Political Activities

1.     Contested the Parliaments Election thrice from 4 souths Bombay Constituency. As a Independent Candidate in 1986-1991-1993 and Assembly Election for 20 Umarkhadi

2.     Winner of International Friendship Society of India Award, In 1992 along with Shri Vilashrao Deshmukh (Minister of Maharashtra) Lal Thanawala ( Then Chief Minister of Mizoram) Ramdas Athavle (Minister of Maharashtra)  Shri Khorakiwala, Shri Zain Rangoonwala  ( Chairmen of Bombay Mercantile CO-Operative, Bank.

 

3.     Clean Bombay Green Bombay Award with Certificate winners by then Mayor of Bombay Dr. Santi Patel, year of 1972 / 1973.

 

4.     Nominated for Award in 1992, in the memory of Late Rajiv Gandhi by a committee of 20 Parliament members who contributed in working for peace n harmony.

 

5.     Founder General Secretary of Indo South African Friendship Society founder President was Shri Dada Saheb Rupwate and vice president Shri Govindrao Adik after the freedom of South Africa

·         Filed a Writ Petition in Supreme Court with other shareholders for Public Interest, in interest of Cooperative Movement under Sanction 37 E of Multi state cooperative Society act, for the benefit of share holders as a result of which the rule was changed in favor of shareholders for more then two consecutive terms and was abolished for Chairman in the Multi sate Co-Operative Society Act.”

 

·         I was appointed as an Administrator in the Awami Co- Operative Bank Ltd. by Government of Maharashtra.

 

·         In the interest of Bank’s Rehabilitation scheme and in the interest of the shareholders, I booked the culprits and found out irregularities of around 4.50 Cr of Three government corporations money, and managed to save the money of Vasantrao Naik Prathistan , Mahatma Phule Prathistan, and Anna Bhau Sathe  corporations.

 Mr. Miya Ahmed Merchant's, election for Assembly Election in the presence of Mr. Faqrudin Ali Ahemed the then Minister of India for Agriculture

 

2.    Campaign in charge for official party’s Candidates in Umarkhadi Taluka for Mr. Balwant Pawar, Rahemat Lakdawala, Yousuf Phulwala, and Masoom Hussein

 

3.     Was denied Ticket for ward 7 in the 1992 BMC Party Election

 

4.     Campaign in charge for assembly seat in 20 Ummerkhadi Taluka congress candidates Abdullah Sahadat then Miss Amina Sayed

11.  Appointed as IT Cell Chairman of NCP Mumbai, and Maharashtra Pradesh; this was the first appointment of its kind within   any political party in India.

13.  President Mr. Baban Rao Pachpute Appointed as Campaign in-charge for electronic Media, In  Maharashtra Pradesh Nationalist Congress Party, for Election 2002, for Maharashtra State of  Nagar Palika, Gram Panchayat, Zillaha  and  Nagar Parishad, our party was  the first party to use SMS –email  in election campaign all members of yahoo group  have forwarded many e- mails to net surfer election commission band the SMS and e mail for time being
 

14.  On the birth day of Shri Sharad Chandra Pawar along with Shri Sachin Ahir MLA we have given free accident Insurance policy to poor, worth about Rupees 60 Lacks in all Districts of Mumbai, this is the first time that any political party has introduced this type of movement after this movement Government of Maharashtra introduce this policy for school children.

 

15.  Distributed at the time of Bomb Blast at Gateway of India and Mumbadevi around 200 packets of gift contains daily needs for patients, along with names, symbol of party   with Shri Sachin Ahir the President NCP Mumbai Regional Congress Committee
